Learning how to solve a Rubik's Cube and using the algorithms is much like studying formulas in music theory so I often encourage students to have a bit of fun learning the standard 3x3 Rubik's cube.

It also ties into Jazz improvisation by having a recognisable situation/chord progression which then triggers the memory of applicable moves/scales/licks which will work for this situation.
