In this video we feature Team Prism from Parramatta Marist High School. This is an extended version of the story that appears in the 2020 State Finals Program.
PRISM is a professional Australian F1 in Schools team, consisting of five Year 10 students from Catherine McAuley and Parramatta Marist High. As a team, PRISM strives to create a team that goes beyond their previous achievements in last year's competition interacting with their community. In order to succeed in this project, Team Prism assigned each of their team members specific roles to work efficiently and complete their F1 project to the highest standards.
In these COVID -19 outbreak times, Prism like many other F1 in Schools teams, were forced to adapt by using online tools such as Zoom, Slack, Instant messaging, Instagram, Discord and Emails so that they were still able to communicate as a team, continually passing ideas around.
After school every Tuesday, 40 students from Parramatta Marist High School and sister school, Catherine McAuley, meet for 'STEM club' to work in their teams to collaborate, make faster cars and enjoy each other's company. Students share ideas, and resources with each other and it provides a strong sense of community among the different students that gather.
