This performance of Schubert's "Death and the Maiden", (in version for string orchestra), included the original lieder by Schubert with the same name, accompaniment of which served as a theme for the second movement of the quartet and its nickname. Performed by Russian String Orchestra (formerly Chamber Orchestra Kremlin), conducted by Misha Rachlevsky, on Nov. 29, 2017, at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. Vocal soloists Elena Egorenkova, soprano, and Maxim Kuzmin-Karavaev, bass.
