In September of 2006, I was following the trail of one of my ancestors', John App, as he headed west to California from Illinois for the gold rush in 1850. In western Iowa, as I drove along the Mormon Trail, I passed a man on horseback. Looking like was was on a journey of his own, I decided to turn around and ask where he was going. It was a neat interview with Ezra Cooley, a cowboy from Chico, California who was riding around the world on horseback. His proposed over-seas route changed a little (due to funding) as he approached the east coast and New York City, but you can look on Youtube (search "Ezra Cooley") or check his website (watch the video for it) to see how it all turned out. What a nice and interesting man!
