More than 40,000 residents around Reno, Nevada, have been ordered to evacuate and  another 45,000 were put on notice as a fast moving wildfire grew out of control over the weekend.

The Hawk Fire started Saturday in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. It's grown to cover more than 23 square miles. As of Monday morning,  the fire was considered uncontained.

Authorities believe the fire, primed by months of dry weather and a winter of record-low snow, was human-caused.

Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo declared a state of emergency for Washoe County and mobilized the Nevada National Guard to assist with aerial firefighting and to safeguard evacuated neighborhoods. At least six people have been injured so far.
