Fully automatic (robotic) AA battery charger made with 3D printer and micro:bit. You just need to pour batteries and it automatically charges them one by one. The charging time of each battery is recorded separately and shown on the display. You can add Bluetooth monitoring / controlling features.
Enjoy!
[parts]
* micro:bit (approx. 20 USD) https://microbit.org
* SG90 compatible mini servo (approx. 3 USD)
* any battery charger with charge status LED
* filament for your 3D printer (400-500g)
* short parts
- spring extracted from cheap ball-point pen
- battery contact material (thin metal sheet)
- electronic wires and solder
* (optional) sensor shield for micro:bit (easy to connect the servo to micro:bit)
I used Keyestudio Ks0360 (approx. 10 USD)
[tips]
* The outer case (housing) is designed for my own battery charger, so you might need to modify the 3D data to fit with your charger. The outer case does not need high preciseness, so you can make your own case with wood, cardboard, foam board, etc. Only two parts (corebody.stl and maindrum.stl) are functionally necessary.
* The power output from micro:bit (3V, 100mA) is too weak to drive the servo motor. It is recommended to supply 5V power from USB directly to the servo motor.
* If you use quick battery charger, please be advised to radiate the heat of the battery. The core-body (holder of the main drum) already has holes for radiation, so you can add holes to the housing, or attach a cooling fan.
