The Remote ID for drones and RC airplanes is becoming a reality. There is no going back and if you want to fly legally, you need either a compliant drone with Standard Remote ID (SRID) or a Remote ID module for DIY builds.

The relatively good news is that almost anybody can submit own Remote ID Module to FAA for approval. There will be no monopoly. The ExpressLRS Radar is the DIY open source attempt to convert an ExpressLRS received into a fully functional Remote ID beacon. After all, ESP32 and ESP8266 have WiFi and can act as WiFi beacons.
Does it mean US FPV pilots will get a free solution to the Remote ID problem? Well… kind of, but not really. Or at least, not the solution they wanted
