Speakers

The People's Forum will take place on Saturday, October 13th from 4-7 at the Palestine Cultural Center for Peace, featuring a panel of speakers including:

Jamal Abdi

Jamal Abdi is Policy Director for the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) and directs NIAC's efforts to monitor policies and legislation, and to educate and advocate on behalf of the Iranian community. Abdi previously served as Policy Advisor to U.S. Representative Brian Baird (D-WA) who was a consistent voice of opposition to war with Iran and an outspoken critic of Israel's siege of Gaza while in office. Abdi has written for the New York Times, Foreign Policy, The Progressive, and also blogs at The Huffington Post. He is a frequent guest contributor in print, radio, and television, including appearances on Al-Jazeera, NPR, and BBC radio.

Denise Provost

Denise Provost is the Democratic State Representative for the 27th Middlesex District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. She has openly resisted heavy, external pressure to pass an Iran divestment bill in the Massachusetts statehouse; her letter to the Joint Committee on Public Service stating her refusal to support Iran divestment can be found here.

Kristen Szremski

Kristin Szremski is the director of media and communications for the American Muslims for Palestine. She is an award-winning journalist, spending more than 20 years as an investigative reporter and editor. Before joining AMP, Szremski worked for several years as a correspondent for the Chicago Tribune and other local outlets. Currently, her work appears on Al Jazeera English, the Electronic Intifada, the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs and the Islamic Horizon.

Stephen Walt

Stephen M. Walt is the Robert and Renee Belfer Professor of International Affairs at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is co-author, with John Mearsheimer, of The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy, a book that set off a firestorm of controversy about the role of AIPAC and the broader, pro-Israel lobby within American politics. Professor Walt has been a Resident Associate of the Carnegie Endowment for Peace and a Guest Scholar at the Brookings Institution, and he has also served as a consultant for the Institute of Defense Analyses, the Center for Naval Analyses, and the National Defense University. He presently serves on the editorial boards of Foreign Policy, Security Studies, International Relations, and Journal of Cold War Studies.

What is Expose AIPAC?

Expose AIPAC is a three-day summit being held to coincide with the AIPAC National Summit occurring October 13-15 in Boston.

We are convening the summit in order to expose the corrupt practices of the political lobby American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and the broader Israel lobby of which it is a part. Over the course of these three days we will hold a people's forum with noted activists, public intellectuals, and policymakers to discuss AIPAC's corrupting influence over American foreign policy and domestic politics along with a day of defiance and speaking out within earshot of the AIPAC National Summit.
