Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) of Phoenix, Maryland, USA (acting as Explosives Subcontractor to Main Demolition Contractor, Hepaco of Charlotte, North Carolina) performs the preparation for and successful explosives felling of one (1) banded, 120' tall radial tile chimney in Jonesville, South Carolina on Friday, March 24, 2023.

$FULL VIDEO | Tropicana Hotel and Casino Implosion Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) of Phoenix, Maryland, USA (acting as Explosives Subcontractor to Main Demolition Contractor, GGG Demolition, Inc. of Las Vegas, Nevada) performs the design of and successful explosives felling of the two, 23-story Tropicana Hotel and Casino towers: the structural steel framed Paradise Tower and the reinforced concrete Club Tower in Las Vegas, Nevada. CDI loaded over 1,421 lbs of dynamite into 1,123 holes drilled into columns and shear walls of the Club Tower and 1,451 LF of linear shaped charges at 219 cut points in the Paradise Tower. A 6 minute 20 second fireworks and drone show by Fireworks By Grucci of Bellport, New York sent the Tropicana out in style and the two towers were successfully imploded at 2:37 am on October 9, 2024. Vibration monitoring was conducted at numerous locations around the site. Peak particle velocity and peak air overpressure readings consistent with the low-level estimates provided by CDI based on historic and project-specific data. The post-demolition survey revealed no changes from pre-existing conditions to adjacent improvements to remain. Vibration and air overpressure created by CDI’s implosion plan was a fraction of limits allowed by local, State and federal regulations.
