Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) of Phoenix, Maryland, USA (acting as Explosives Subcontractor to Main Demolition Contractor, Great Lakes Demolition, Co. (GLDC) of Clyde, Ohio) performs the preparation for and explosives felling of the 150’ tall Carmeuse Lime and Stone Silos located in Huron, Ohio on April 12, 2024.
To avoid having to mobilize high-reach equipment to the site or perform personnel operations at high elevations, GLDC retained CDI to bring the 150’ silos to grade for downsizing and removal with equipment otherwise needed on the project to clear the site.
CDI worked with GLDC to prepare the structures for felling over a 2-day period, loaded explosives in a single day and brought the structures to grade, per plan.
