A short walkthrough of the Verandah Grill onboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach. The paintings on the walls were done by artist Doris Zinkeisen back in 1935. During the sailing career of the Queen Mary, this room was used for "a la carte" meals for dinner, and a nightclub at night. When the Mary entered troopship service for WWII, the room became an officers briefing room and the beautiful paintings got accidentally damaged. During her post war refit, Cunard rehired Zinkeisen to repaint all the damaged paintings. Because of the treatment of her paintings (jokingly), Zinkeisen painted a hidden mouse somewhere in the mural so that no matter how clean Cunard kept the ship, there was always a rodent onboard.
