element14 presents | Exploring the Intricacies of Strain Gauges in Mechanical Systems - DC To Daylight @element14presents | Uploaded 8 months ago | Updated 1 day ago
In this DC to Daylight episode, Derek shows how strain gauges are used to measure strain in a system as it relates to stress. He explains the basics of how strain gauges are constructed, the proper orientation of them during application, as well has how they are applied to a mechanical structure in order to measure a material's deformation (a.k.a strain). In addition, he goes through a few methods of attaching one or more strain gauges to a Wheatstone bridge in order to extract a miniscule voltage from the strain gauges as they work.
