In this video I head out with 3 friends to The Apostle Islands Lakeshore in Northern Wisconsin for an EXTREMELY rare event that hasn’t occurred since 2015! With global warming, the big lake (Lake Superior) is starting to get less and less likely to freeze solid on that particular coastline thick enough to be safe for humans to walk on! The best example is that by 8am the next morning after this trip, it was ALL open water! On this day being the only day to explore legally, we set out to be mesmerized by the beauty of the ice caves! The video will take you all the way to the end of the Ice Cave Trail, hiking 4 miles from the beginning trailhead onto the lake at Meyers Beach! Walking by all the caves and ice formations along the way! We were the first shuttle at the trailhead so there was very minimal people on trail as later in the day there was thousands!
Note: The very next day all the ice was broken up from a storm! This event was a one day only event!
