I finally made it to Nome, Alaska for the very first time! I flew in from Anchorage and immediately had one of the most unique taxi rides I’ve ever taken before checking into the Aurora Inn. After a quick room tour, I set out to explore and got my first look at the Bering Sea before grabbing dinner at Milano’s, where the pizza totally surprised me in the best way. The next day, I had a chance to see more of this fascinating western Alaska town. I visited Anvil Park, saw the iconic Iditarod arch, and checked out the world’s largest gold pan. I also popped into the local AC store to see just how wild grocery prices are in Nome, explored West Beach, stopped by the local museum, and even saw an old gold dredge. Between work meetings, I was able to pack in a lot of exploring—and I’m so glad I finally got to experience Nome for myself!
