Through his fiction and non-fiction works, Haroon Khalid explores numerous themes which emerge from the cultural impacts of Partition.  What does it mean to be a Pakistani?  An Indian?  Who was Guru Nanak and what was his legacy in undivided Punjab?  His writings explore untold histories and the notion of identity through captivating stories and new insights that are sure to intrigue and inspire you.

Haroon Khalid has an academic background in Anthropology. He got his undergraduate degree from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in Social Sciences with a focus in anthropology and history, and a graduate degree in Anthropology from The University of Toronto.

He has been a freelance journalist since 2008 and has written over 350 articles, for numerous publications including Al Jazeera, Scroll.in, Wire.in, TRT World, Himal, Dawn, The News, Express Tribune, and others. He has travelled extensively around Pakistan and has written about minority rights, folk traditions, politicization of history and heritage, nationalism and identity, and several other topics. In addition to being a writer and journalist, Haroon is also an educator. He is currently based in Toronto, where he is working on his latest novel, supported by a writing grant from Canada Council of the Arts, documenting oral histories of the South Asian community with his partner, Anam Zakaria, through the platform of their collective, Qissa, and working as Communications Manager for Toronto Arts Council and Toronto Arts Foundation.
