In this episode of our Mexico travel series, we spend the day exploring the incredible culture, history, and life of Mexico off the beaten path. Our adventure begins at a coconut museum, where we learn how coconuts are grown, harvested, and used in everyday life, and of course, we bought some great items from their little store. Next, we visit a local roof tile factory, where where a local family creates beautiful handmade tiles using traditional methods that have been passed down through generations. Then we make our way to La Chole, an awe-inspiring archaeological site featuring ancient pyramids, a ceremonial ball court, and fascinating artifacts that tell the story of early civilizations in this region. We even get to climb to the top of one of the pyramids before visiting the small on-site museum and finishing the day with a relaxing local lunch. This was one of our favorite experiences in Mexico so far.
