With a few hours spare I head out to explore Westwood Mill.
I’ve walked past a few times but never been in, until today.
Such a shame a building like this is left to crumble.
Westwood Mills is a grade Il listed building built in 1798 used for wool processing. In 2005 the new owners of the mill were given concent to convert the buildings for residential use which has yet to happen. It was originally powered by water via a millpond before a boiler and engine was installed. The canal runs parallel which was used to transport goods but as the 19th century saw changes to the mill, the canals were disused as faster transport was introduced and the mill was modernised.
It now sits rotting and vandalised.
