PART TWO The Belle Isle Nature Center (BINC) is a nature center that encompasses approximately 4 acres of undisturbed forested wetland on Belle Isle. The nature center provides year-round educational, recreational and environmental conservation opportunities for the community.
A Deer Encounter, where fallow deer that once roamed the island can be fed by visitors, is part of a multi-phase project to convert the former Belle Isle Zoo.
The Belle Isle Zoo in Detroit, which closed in 2002, is scheduled to be demolished in 2025.
