Tanjung Pinang is a heaven for seafood lover. “Gong gong” molluscs is worth to try. Chinese foods are almost in every corner while other Indonesian food also can be found. After tasting the local bread spread, the 'Kaya' made from coconut and egg, the Thousand Layer Cake, and Otak-Otak (fish cake baked in open charcoal fire) are worth to hand carried as a souvenirs.

The Tanah Merah Tanjung Pinang ferry route connects Singapore with Bintan Island and is currently operated by 2 ferry companies. The Sindo Ferry service runs up to 4 times per day with a sailing duration of around 2 hours while the Majestic Fast Ferry service runs up to 4 times per day with a duration from 1 hr 40 min.
