In this video, I show some of my recent experiments with concocting a home-made functional equivalent to a commercially available adhesive label remover spray that I have used for many years, and found to be effective on a particularly tough label adhesive I need to remove on some projects I do.
Using the commercial product wastes a lot of it due to the spray application, when what I needed was just liquid in a large jar that I can dunk the adhesive-soiled objects in, safely.
What I ended up with is compromised because I was not able to easily obtain the pure, laboratory-grade ingredients, and had to try and make do using common retail products that I believed contained the desired desired chemicals.
***** Note that Goo Gone brand “Goo & Adhesive Remover”, aka “Goo Gone Original”, has as its two main active ingredients the same 64742-48-8 Naphtha (that I used but NOT the -9 Naphtha that I preferred) and 5989-27-5 d-Limonene as what I was trying to make. This suggests that the reason my concoction was "immiscible" is that the "Simple Green" I used is not a good substitute for the preferred 5989-27-5 d-Limonene.
