In Genesis 12:1, the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you." Abraham obeyed, and set out on a long journey of faith, trusting in God's promises long before he could see or experience them. His journey led him all the way to Shechem, in the land of Canaan, modern-day Israel.
