Offroad racing on an exoplanet sounds fun, until you realize it looks just like earth, and they made roads to race on.
The driving physics are excellent, but the game lacks a career mode outside of just one race after another. There's not enough variation between the different speed classes either.

Hmm, its always difficult playing a beloved game like this without nostalgia goggles. While this was definitely way better than FF8, I cant help being annoyed at quite a few things. The poor dialogue translation might be the main culprit though, as it makes the many many cutscenes just feel stiff and robotic. I do think the graphics are charming for the time and have no issues with the low poly characters. All in all, the game is okay, but there are much better JRPGs out there like Grandia.

This game has 989 levels..........
Luckily you get to skip a vast majority of them, but this is still a massive pain to beat. The game itself is actually quite good, and especially impressive that it runs on a Super Nintendo, but boy is this a lot of Populous.
