In this episode of Financial Modeler’s Corner, host Paul Barnhurst invites Diarmuid Early to explore financial modeling, Excel, automation, and some of the most unusual ways spreadsheet skills can solve real-world problems.

Sometimes a spreadsheet takes you somewhere completely unexpected.

Like backstage at a TV game show.

A production company needed to understand the expected payout for a game show concept.

The solution was a Monte Carlo model running one million simulations.

Probability distributions, potential outcomes, and expected payouts. All built in a spreadsheet.

The show never made it to a full commission, but it got far enough for a studio pilot to be recorded. That’s the fun of modeling.
