What do you do when your Excel VLOOKUP isn't working? Or you need VLOOKUP to look to the left, but it doesn't work? Yes. Excel VLOOKUP is the most used lookup function across the globe. With VLOOKUP you can get Excel to search for a certain value in a column and return a value from an adjacent column. You can use VLOOKUP from another sheet or even from another file. It's a staple for most Excel users but it has its limitation.
In this video I'll show you a newer lookup function (Excel XLOOKUP) that's much more powerful, flexible with less chances of making mistakes. XLOOKUP can look to the left and do vertical and horizontal lookups. Check out this episode of noob vs pro at the office.
XLOOKUP is currently available in Office 365 and Office 2021. XLOOKUP is not available in Excel 2016 or Excel 2019.
