I bought the eXceed series 9 days ago, so this is actually a pretty fast 1cc if you ask me. (in my first run I ran out of continues. on Normal.)
I'm surprised about how quickly I grew into this game. :O
Run was pretty nice, had a few dumb derp deaths but still good.
The video has some chunks of lag, sadly. Oh well. I can't seem to play the game without the chunks of lag even if I don't (live) record and have all other visible programs shut down, both of which don't even make a difference.
Anyway, the game has a fun a color switching system based on Ikaruga; you absorb bullets of your current color and get hit by the opposite color. Absorbing is very important as it doesn't just make survival easier, it also builds up a chain. If you do not absorb for too long the chain will break.
Proximity is also important, both for enemies and bosses; so, speedkilling is rewarded. Especially for bosses. Being close to them makes you deal significantly more damage. Both survival and scoring benefit from it, since you will end patterns faster and get more points too. And for the Touhou people, no, you are not able to focus in this game! :P You can manage with down+left and down+right though.
Besides, the game's story is featured throughout gameplay with dialogues at both the start of a stage and a boss battle, which have actual voice acting, in contrary to Touhou dialogues. I decided to include the dialogues in my run in case I would want to use this video to show others what the game is like. c:
In short, a really fun and interesting game with some of the coolest mechanics! I like how it basically expanded the system of Ikaruga, which itself is a "puzzle" kind of shmup.
Stage 1 0:00 Siegrune and Brynhild 2:10
Stage 2 3:50 Chinatsu Kagaya 6:15
Stage 3 7:39 Sowel Devosiana 9:49
Stage 4 11:43 Miyabi Housen 13:50
Stage 5 15:39 Gilles de Rai 18:03
Stage 6 19:34 Anhel 22:05
Siegrune and Brynhild II 26:55
Siegrune (Final Boss) 30:45
