Rosanne Haggerty has been working with others to end homelessness since 1990. While her goals were ambitious, creating nearly 3000 affordable homes in New York City and then galvanizing communities throughout the country to house 100,000 chronically homeless people during a four-year campaign, she came to realize that a more systemic approach was required.
The result was the goal of “Functional Zero,” which is being successfully implemented in more than 140 communities in the US and internationally. Rosanne will review the evolution of her approach to ending homelessness–and what the future will bring with the recent award of the MacArthur Foundation’s “100 & Change” grant.
