John de Lancie is an accomplished actor, producer, musician, and writer. His decades of film and television appearances include The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, The Onion Field, Fearless, “Breaking Bad,” “CSI,” and “The Practice,” as well as the iconic character Q featured throughout the Star Trek franchise. His interest in science education and evolution began when he toured the U.S. with a show about the Scopes Monkey Trial; that tour opened his eyes to the ongoing extent of religious organizations’ attacks on science and evolution, leading de Lancie to write (with Kristen Treager) the audio play The Dover Intelligent Design Trial. He received the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s inaugural Clarence Darrow Award in 2018.
Eugenie Scott is the former executive director of the National Center for Science Education and an internationally known expert on the creationism vs. evolution controversy and science denialism. Scott is a fellow and member of the Executive Council of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry. In 2009, Scientific American named her “one of 10 outstanding leaders involved in research, business or policy pursuits that have advanced science and technology.”
