Moral judgements don’t bounce off of us like personal preferences. They keep us awake at night. But in admitting that, one of the most frustrating attitudes I encounter whenever I discuss morality on my channel, is people who will lazily invoke Darwinian evolution as what fully accounts for the phenomenon of human ethics and morality.
They’ll say that people who are moral have an evolutionary advantage and societies that work together also have an advantage, so as natural selection chooses those who will survive and reproduce, it will favour more moral members of the species.
And I have to say, I find this to be extremely unconvincing.
