Meet Eve, our new bonsai beginner.
Out of the office and to the outdoors, Eve wanders the rows of Mirai’s landscape with a new perspective. As a member of the Mirai creative and operations team for the past three years, she has witnessed some of the most iconic compositions at the garden evolve in real time.
Eve’s inaugural trees come to her as gifts from her father, who she grew up watching carefully tend to his own bonsai collection. These flowering trees have been under his care since the passing of Tom Post, beloved former president of the Bonsai Club of Santa Barbara. Now, Eve will carry the honor of stewarding them through their next phase of life.
After a quick consultation with Mirai founder and bonsai professional Ryan Neil, she begins her bonsai quest. Fully guided by the Mirai Live online bonsai education platform, she has all the how-to’s of bonsai cultivation by her side.
Watch as Eve selects a front and new repotting angle, cleans out dead tips and downward growing branches, and boldly attempts the structural and detail wiring process... like no beginner has before.
