Whitepaw learns from Bluefur that his cousins (Mosskit, Stonekit, and Mistykit) died and is distraught by the loss. A season later, Whitestorm is out picking moss when he discovers Stonepaw and Mistypaw are in Riverclan territory and finds comfort knowing two of his cousins are still alive and are safe, even though he can't be with them anymore.

fun fact! the flowers are carnations, which are associated with grief and are often used in a funeral floral arrangement. that's why they sit on top of the kits graves and surround bluefur and whitepaw in the first scene! the flowers by stonepaw and mistypaw are daffodils, which represent rebirth and new beginnings
