A compilation of all programs that MPU5 ran - but sped up to be palatable.
MPU5 was completed in January 2021 and is the 9th redstone computer I have built in Minecraft.
Programs shown:
- 16 bit Fibonacci
- Multiplication by repeated add
- Multiplication by shift and add
- Multiplication by hardware
- Division by repeated sub
- Hello World!
- Fizzbuzz
MPU5 is the first computer I built with:
- a text display
- a base 10 number display
- a hardware multiplier
- dual read registers instead of an accumulator
MPU5 Trivia:
- MPU5 was the first time I have ran a Hello World program, even outside of Minecraft
- the instruction rom used observers and rails - this caused timings issues making it unable to run more than Fizzbuzz
- the text display uses a custom 8 segment design I came up with, which can display all letters and numbers
MPU5 Specs:
- 8 bit
- 7 tick clock speed (1.4 Hz)
- 64 byte RAM
- 656 byte ROM
- 10x5 text display
- 3 stage pipeline
- 16x8 pixel display
- 3 operand architecture (no accumulator)
- 9 registers
- simulated dual read registers
