Recorded in January, 2017, so...just about five years ago, now.
I never planned to upload it, but i came across it just now and thought heck, why not.
The song is Every Time We Say Goodbye by Cole Porter. It's probably obvious that I blanked on what I should sing in this neat space and just went for it.
I recorded it in this big egg shaped room in an observatory (not the outer space kind, the other kind) in Kumamoto, Japan. I'll drop more info about that location here later, maybe. The architect is Takasaki Masaharu.
You may be disappointed that there's no ending on this video. I was recording it on a digital camera and it ran out of space. Too bad!
The ringing echo effect is best when you stand in this circle right in the center of the room. The circle is broken, because the whole structure has fallen into disrepair. It's still incredible though, and I'll visit again next time I have a chance.
Other details: I was driving to Fukuoka and stopped here to visit and to record a little somethin somethin. Actually, considering that I have on my Arashi "Are You Happy?" tour sweatshirt, maybe I was on my way back from Fukuoka. That would also explain why my camera was out of space. That sweatshirt is lost now, I think I left it in the bathroom soon after moving to LA, and when I came back it was gone.
The final detail is that what I actually ended up recording here was "Silver Bells" for our (abandoned) Ash Productions 26 days of christmas countdown , and i ended up using my phone to record the sound for that. That video is also uploaded to youtube, but the video from it is not from inside this dome, I used video from walking around Fukuoka for that. Check it out if you like
