Everybody who mows grass has an opinion.
What’s the best lawn mower brand? Gas or diesel? Bag or discharge? Big deck or small deck? How often should you mow? What was your first mower? What’s your dream mower?
In this video, I’m answering all of those questions — and a whole bunch more — but I really want to hear YOUR answers.
I’ve been mowing grass since I was a kid, from an old Lawn-Boy push mower to golf course equipment and now my 2001 Grasshopper 721D front-mount diesel mower. Over the years I’ve developed plenty of mowing habits, preferences and probably a few unpopular opinions.
So let’s have the Great Mowing Debate.

• What mower-maintenance habit should everyone get into?

THE GREAT MOWING DEBATE
• What is the BEST lawn mower brand?
• What is the worst mower you’ve ever owned?
• Gas, diesel, battery or robot?
• Is bagging grass worth it?
• Bigger mower deck or smaller mower deck?
• What is the biggest mistake people make when mowing?
• What is the one piece of mowing advice you’d give a new homeowner?
• If you could mow any property in the world, what would it be?
• If you could invent one mower feature that doesn’t exist today, what would it be?
For me, Grasshopper front-mount mowers are still hard to beat. My current machine is a 2001 Grasshopper 721D with a 61-inch front-mount deck, but the dream machine is still a Grasshopper 930D with a 72-inch deck.
If anybody has a clean 930D 72" sitting around collecting dust... you know where to find me.
