So far this summer I've learned a lot of things. I've learned that life isn't fair and people suck, but that's just the way it is and there's nothing you can do about it. But, you can do something about your attitude and the way you look at it. Find something positive in every bad situation. Look at the bright side and find ways to make it better. Don't spend your time worrying about what people think of you and do what you want and be who you want to be. It's your life, make it into what you want. Really try your hardest and put your best effort into everything you do, because it truly will make a difference. There's nothing better than the feeling of knowing that you have made an impact on someone's life. Also, be very open minded about everything. Don't judge someone before you get to know them, because that person may actually be the exact opposite of what you expect. And finally, I've learned to really appreciate what these amazing animals do for us everyday. They work hard for us every single day just because they love us and love their job. They truly deserve the best.
This summer, I've worked tireless hours with unappreciative children and rude co-workers. I have had to stand outside in the blazing sun for 6 hours straight with no breaks. I've had to ride horses that did everything they could to try to purposefully hurt me just because everyone else was scared to do so. I've had countless days where I was at the breaking point and ready to go home. But, I've also had the experience of a lifetime. I've learned that there's absolutely nothing better then having someone look up to you and want to learn everything you have to offer to them. There's nothing better than seeing someone progress and work hard to achieve their goals, and then how truly happy they are once they get there. Though the feeling of achieving a goal you've been working at for awhile is great, nothing compares to the feeling of being the person that helped someone get there.
This summer, I got to take a shot at what I want to do for the rest of my life, and I could not be happier for what the years to come have in store for me. I've gotten to work with some of the greatest kids and horses, and learned a new appreciation for the animals in our sport. I've met some amazing people and made new friends, and gained so much valuable experience and lessons I'll keep with me for the rest of my life.

[Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail.]
(HD or die)
Being a good rider does NOT mean you have the most money, the fanciest ponies, the best equitation. It doesnt mean that you have won the most ribbons or being the most famous.
Being a good rider is so much more.
To me, a good rider is one that inspires others. One that, when doing the walk of shame out of the ring after a fall, puts on a big smile and says, I want to try again.
One when, even if their horse is bad, that they still have a smile on their face and thankful that they are in that saddle.
One that, even if their horse bucks or acts naughty, just laughs instead of beating them.
But mainly, I believe a good rider is someone who NEVER gives up. They take whatever the hell is thrown at them, and keep on going.
Between you and every goal that you wish to achieve, there is a series of obstacles, and the bigger the goal, the bigger the obstacles. Your decision to be, have and do something out of the ordinary entails facing difficulties and challenges that are out of the ordinary as well. Sometimes your greatest asset is simply your ability to stay with it longer than anyone else.
Anyone can give up, its the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart,

sometimes things dont go the way that you had planned, and you have to be okay with that. because in the end, no one will remember the ribbons that you did or didnt win. theyre going to remember the times that you smiled when you had every reason to cry. always keep your head up and be thankful for your opportunities, no matter the outcome.
ill come right out and say this. i got eliminated every single night of pony finals. whether it was my fault, or pons, i honestly do not care, because what i experienced in that week was far greater than any ribbon i could ever win. and i hope that if youre reading this, that youll read the entire thing, because what i say here will be the most important thing i could ever say to you.
the first day at pony finals, i walked into the stands of the huge covered indoor. i just stood there, staring at it, trying to take everything in. this was one of those moments that you say to yourself, im going to remember this for the rest of my life. everything was just so peaceful and perfect. and then it hit me. it finally hit me. i was here at pony finals. everything i dreamed about for forever was literally sitting right in front of me. everything ive worked for was in reach. it finally all worked out for me. i became so overwhelmed from this that i just started crying. not because of nerves, or being worried, but because i was happy. and right then, i knew, that no matter what happened by the weekend, it didnt matter, because i had accomplished so much more than i could have ever dreamed of. and no matter what ribbon i did or didnt get, i would be happy... because of this moment.
everything happens for a reason. and sometimes it doesnt go the way that you want.but i honestly believe that its perfectly okay. i didnt get around one single course last week. but you know what? thats okay. maybe it was just nerves, or if pons really is done for good, but it could have been anything. that ring is fucking scary. by far the scariest ring ive been in. yes, we got to hack in it all week, but you would not believe how much it changed show night. i cant even describe to you how overwhelming it is, how nervous to the point i thought i was going to puke i was.
but after it all, i realized.. that it didnt matter how i placed, that it didnt matter if i won or not, because that is not what pony finals is about. pony finals is about having fun, meeting people from all across the country, and experiencing new things.
yes i cried when i came out of the ring, who wouldnt? but you know what? i sucked it up and went back and cheered on my team.. every. single. night.and after thinking about it, i dont care that i didnt get a ribbon.i dont care that i didnt get around.i dont care about how i did.
because you know what? in one week, one short week that i wish i could live over and over again, i had the fucking time of my life. i met so many freaking amazing people. i made so many friends and became close to so many people that i would have not met if it wasnt for this show, friends that i want to have for the rest of my life. i got to experience something that people only dream about and i got to live out something ive been dreaming about practically my whole life. i proved to myself and everyone that said i wasnt gonna go to pony finals that if you really do work hard and set your mind to it, that you CAN do it. hard work does infact get recognized and you should never ever give up on what you want, because you CAN do it and it WILL happen. it might not happen in the way that you expect, but things always work out in the end.
and most of all, i learned how to be a good sport. i learned that its not always going to work out in your favor, and you have to be okay with that. that no matter what happens in the ring, you should learn from it, and move on, and always walk around with a smile and thank your horses at every oppportunity you get, because they try their hearts out to please us.
and honestly, i think all of that is far greater than a first place ribbon. that this life becomes all that you w a n t e d [PFs 11]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Hh1xmQdwKGo/mqdefault.jpg)

2011 was without a doubt, the hardest year of both of our lives. But, if I were given the chance to go back and change something, I wouldnt.
This year has taught me that good things happen to those who deserve it. Though it might not be in the way you expect it, life has a way of working itself out and giving us what we need, not what we want. It pushes us to our ends, so that when the opportunity for something great finally comes, we appreciate it. This year has also taught me that no matter what happens, put on a smile and look at it in a positive way, because its not the end yet. Its never the end. Never ever take no for an answer, because if theres a will, then theres a way. Theres always going to be people rooting for you to fail, but you find those who would do anything to see you succeed. Be thankful for them. When life gives you difficulties, put a smile on your face and make people wonder how the hell youre still going. It will make you a better person in the end. Dont ever worry about the future, because I can promise you that it will be okay in the end. If its not okay, then its not the end. This year, I accomplished everything I wanted to and more. I proved people wrong. I proved myself wrong, and Cristina, you did the same. Thank you for always being here for me, I couldnt have done it without you.
So heres to 2012, Cristina and Is last junior year, our last year in high school, it seems like everything is coming to a close. But, you know what? Its not the end. Its only just the beginning.
