So we decided to evacuate early on August 24, 2017. Later that same day Hurricane Harvey was escalated to a Category 4 hurricane. The area that we were in wasn't going to be hit directly by the hurricane, but it was supposed to be the center of rain and get 20+ inches. It would also be the area where flooding was going to be the worst, so we decided it was time to get out of there. We weren't planning on leaving for another 10 days, so we had to cut our trip short.
