Europa has geology unlike anywhere else in the solar system including the Earth. On a large scale, it is the smoothest known object, but a closer look reveals a terrain filled with hills and ridges everywhere. On top of that the surface is quite colorful, the reddish coloration indicates a presence of carbon based molecules, if they come from its subsurface ocean then it is an indication that life might be lurking in them. This video also examines most of Europa’s other peculiar geological features such as chaos, bands, smooth areas and multi ring craters. During the 2030s we are going to get an even more in depth look into these features because two satellites are on their way to Jupiter with a dedication to study Europa, those two satellites are NASA's Europa Clipper, which will be launching this month, and ESA’s JUICE satellite already launched last year. The future for the exploration of this moon is bright, hopefully we don’t just stop with these satellites and eventually get working towards drilling into the water ice crust of Europa such that we finally see what is actually going on there.
