Seabirds, can you hear them? I can hear them, right beneath the ocean.
Storytime ~ On a ship traveling upon Europa, a moon of Jupiter, a crew member discovers a stowaway hiding aboard. The stowaway asks him if he hears seabirds singing beneath the frozen ocean, and tells him she's going to join them. Europa is an ethereal duet with Chrono Trigger inspired seagull synths. This song blends dreamy alt/indie/pop with VGM into the OrcaMind atmosphere! Our songs have a running theme and characters within them, and this song is part of that story.
We wrote this song very recently, and put aside all of our other projects to finish it because we were so inspired.
Are the seabirds actually birds? Or could they be seals? Or whales, or something else?
Something I like about this song and its melodic/emotional, hopeful vibe is that the sailor believes the stowaway, who has been cast away for the deep calling to what lies beneath the ice. He takes her seriously immediately, and they are now involved on a new mission together. The overall vibe of this song's emotion to me is - hope in the unknown ~
For the video ~ The snow was all melted, and I thought it'd be too late to film the video with a cool snowy theme like I envisioned. BUT, there was one more day that it started snowing and we ran outside. It turned out to be an all-day snowstorm that gave us wonderful filming material. The numbness was worth it, because this turned out to be one of my favorite videos to edit!
