EU-MAT Effective Urban Material Mining in Cities -project aims to enhance the low material circularity in construction across the northern regions of Finland, Sweden, and Norway.
The project will leverage material flow analysis, spatial modeling, and machine learning to create a mining method adaptable to northern cities.
Representatives from all the project partners (Karelia UAS, Aalto University, Research Institute of Sweden and The Arctic University of Norway) gathered in Joensuu, Finland, for the project kick-off in October 2025.
The project is co-founded by the European Union's Interreg Aurora programme.
