On 11 February, 2026 Commission President Ursula von der Leyen gave a speech at the European Industry Summit 2026 in Antwerp.
"Europe’s power on the global stage depends greatly on our strength on the economic front. This is why competitiveness has been at the top of our agenda from day one. What matters now is the speed of delivery. (...)

We are ready to build the strongest business case for your industries to choose Europe.With speed. With scale.With access to affordable energy and new markets. (...)

We must also accelerate the uptake of industrial clean products made in Europe.This will be a central focus of the upcoming Industrial Accelerator Act.We will introduce specific EU content requirements for strategic sectors.This also includes low-carbon requirements in public procurement."
