When it comes to Photovoltaic Array Overcurrent Protection of the large multi gigawatt powerplants, ETI offers a wide range of NH knife blade gPV fuses and accessories. Our portfolio extends from 1000 volts to 1500 volts rated voltages, developed according to the standard IEC 60269-6, UL 2579 and UL 248-19.
These fuses are used to protect cables in central inverters. The problem with direct current, especially at high voltages, is the electric arc. As the current does not pass through zero, there is no arc quenching by current passing through zero as is the case with AC fuses. So, when the fuse interrupts, high amount of energy is released, which may cause instability or even an explosion.
At ETI, we developed and patented an arc barrier solution – the DC arc limiter, which reduces and disperses the arc energy and thus ensures a reliable operation of our fuses in high voltage DC systems.
The newest member of the 1500 volt NH3L gPV family is a fuse-link with rated current of 630 Amperes, currently the only fuse-link on the world market with such a high amperage in a 3L housing. It is intended for the new generation of more powerful central inverters, is UL certified and has been tested and proven to operate at a breaking capacity of 100kA d.c.
Our gPV fuses also offer remote signalling as they can be connected to remote monitoring systems by mounting a microswitch.
And lastly, as our future should be green in all aspects, our fuses were developed with sustainability in mind. They are 100% biodegradable and produce significantly lower C02 emissions due to 30% less power dissipation, while at the same time enabling a higher reliability of operation in demanding conditions.
