I've had this meme saved for months to make, and finally got it finished! I'm honestly super happy with the finished product, especially since it was a chance to expand on Grold's side of the story! There's also a few new details of lore in here that will-- hopefully-- be brought in later ;) Let me know if you can guess what they may be!

You can read about the characters on my OC Google Doc, but the gist of what's going on in this animation is the arrest of Grold's best friend, Safia, and Grold's response. In the first set of panels, we see the two hanging out in their dimension (the two are crissalis, a type of interdimensional creature with the ability to master certain forms of magic, such as energy manipulation, summoning, portal creation, ect. Safia is special because, instead of being able to tap into just one of these channels, she is a master in all forms of magic.) Then, in the next set of panels, they are attacked by Scorp, one of the queen's guards, who arrests Safia. Grold protests, and is shocked to learn that Syma, the queen's sister, has been murdered and that Safia is the lead suspect. In the next set of panels, we see Safia's trial, where Vixquen-- the queen-- finds her guilty, much to Grold's dismay. But, as said before, Safia is powerful. In the next set of panels she breaks free of her bonds, opens up a portal, and escapes.
Next we see how the whole situation does not sit right with Grold. He knows his friend is innocent, and he is determined to get her name cleared so she can come home. He starts to poke around, even visits the queen's castle in order to look for information. However, he finds more than he was ever expecting... in the next set of panels, we see Grold witness Vixquen and Scorp threatening one of the royal officers. The other crissali is growling about how vixquen is a liar and a murderer, and how she doesn't deserve the crown. But before he can do anything, Vixquen slashes his throat. The dots connect quickly for Grold-- Vixquen was the one who murdered her sister, and now she's killing anyone who catches hint of her trail... which now, unfortunately, includes him. In the last set of panels we see Scorp whip around, catching sight of Grold. Vixquen instantly orders his execution. Grold does the only thing he can do-- he runs. In a panic he remembers the way that Safia escaped, literally breaching the walls of reality, and he tries to do the same. His rips open a portal, but he was never skilled in portal magic. It is unsteady, dangerous, but he has no choice but to plunge in and hope for the best.
