This skill video will show you how to attack a fire in a small unattached structure.
1. Wearing appropriate PPE, deploy attack hoseline as directed by officer.
2. Straighten hoseline.
3. Advance toward structure, open nozzle slightly to allow air to escape, and wait for water to reach nozzle.
4. Using a straight (solid) stream nozzle setting, direct the stream at the structure.
5. As you advance close to the fire, if needed, adjust the nozzle pattern to fog setting to protect from heat.
6. Work the nozzle around to extinguish fire.
7. Use straight (solid) stream setting to extinguish fire in debris.
8. Work with partner, Firefighter #1 uses rake or pike pole to move debris while Firefighter #2 directs the stream into the debris.
