Watch me "Update All" my ESP8266 Devices using two machines on my Network. Each machine gets allocated a Task - Compiling the YAML then uploading (via Wi-Fi) for one device.
When you have many devices to update, like after ESPHome Device Builder gets an update, this saves a LOT of time.
Here's the setup I have:
* One i7 running UnRaid that has ESPHome installed in a Docker
* One i5 NUC running Proxmox that has Home Assistant installed via a VM
- Plus ESPHome running in a container
So, what you're watching is Home Assistant (Left) running the ESPHome Add-on (APP). That is linked to both the ESPHome installs on the i7 (Middle) & the i5 (Right)
The way this works is:
ESPHome (APP) Gets told to Update (1 or more) Devices. It first looks for idle ESPHome installs on the network and sends the job to the first free one. Then it does the same thing for the next device in the list. Once all ESPHome installs are busy, it updates the next one on the list locally.
