• Description:
Often times we need to report data collected from sensors to a 'central' location for long-term storage, analysis, and/or visualization. Typically, we use cloud services such as Thingspeak, myDevices Cayenne, or Ubidots for this purpose. However, it is possible to dedicate an ESP8266 to carry out these tasks.
In this video, we configure an ESP8266 as a WiFi Access Point so that client devices can connect to it. In addition, we set up a web server with a couple of access routes, so that the clients can send data to it using URL parameters (youtu.be/EAUCajLvDKw). This is the simplest way to collect data from multiple devices and send them to a 'central' location even in the absence of an internet connection!
We also configure a client device to use the low-power (deep sleep) mode between data measurements, and wire it so that the ESP8266 resets itself to perform the measurements continuously!

• Description:
In this video, I go over the process of building a device that allows me to turn 3 different analog voltages into corresponding level of red, green, and blue (RGB) color present on the background of a webpage. I use an ESP8266 connected over i2c to an ADS1115 4-Channel Analog-to-Digital Converter to translate analog voltages from 3 potentiometers into 16-bit digital measurements. The ESP8266 runs a webserver that serves a page and creates a websocket connection to that page. Then the ESP8266 sends the scaled ADS1115 values as part of a webpage served to web clients, using JavaScript the values set the color of the pages background in real-time!
