Eskom has recorded a R30.3-billion profit for the 2026 financial year, more than double the R14-billion profit in 2025. The power utility has announced its group annual results for the period ending 31 March 2026.

The financial turnaround was primarily driven by higher electricity tariffs, and a significant reduction in diesel spending for open-cycle gas turbines.

However, the positive bottom line is paired with serious structural warnings, including a 6.2% drop in electricity sales volumes, and a continuous rise in municipal arrears debt.
