After killing the people who held his boyfriend hostage, Veil Between Worlds finds him dead, and starts to ponder how he got here.
----------
To explain what's happening:
Veil Between Worlds is the first reincarnation of Walz, a goblin aasimar. After disowning and denouncing his father, the God of Deceit and Trickery (who is represented by a snake), he was cursed to never go to the afterlife, and instead be forced to constantly reincarnate when he dies. In the sections when he says "I'd rather be free" he's remembering his life before he was cursed, where he was engaged to a kobold named Azure and had eggs with her.
aka, Veil's in hell.
and to explain this scene, Veil's boyfriend named Sundown was murdered by a group of students who go to the college Veil and Sundown go to. Veil's pretty upset that his new bf was murdered after all he's been through. He wishes he was just normal again.
