I figured since I’ve been away from social media for a while I should let you all in on my progress on my new jewelry studio! For those who don’t know the entire story I can give a brief overview on how we got here. A year and a half ago we decided to sell our house in the city and move into our motorhome so we could buy 6.5 acres of unimproved forest in the Oregon coast range and build a new house and studio. I really had no idea exactly what I got myself in to! Preparing land and getting utilities on raw land sounds easy on paper but it’s more work than you might think. Adding to the difficulty, I decided to mill and use all the trees we cut down to clear our house site in order to build with. There is something amazing about walking into a forest and then using what is there to build with! For water we are going to harvest the rain water :) So for the last 7 months I’ve been quietly working on my jewelry orders and spending every spare moment preparing and building out in the woods. There have been some massive ups and downs in the process but I wouldn’t change a bit of it. I never imagined I would know how to mill my own wood. I definitely never imagined owning a backhoe and a tractor either lol. I really appreciate everyone who has supported me through kind words, messages, and keeping me able to do this through the support of buying jewelry! I have a passion of creating pieces that last the rest of time and building the studio where that happens is an extension of that passion.
