Watch LIVE as ESA launches Vega-C carrying SMILE to a Highly Elliptical Orbit from ELV at Guiana Space Center, French Guiana.

This is the 1st launch to be operated under the responsibility of AVIO.

SMILE (Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer) will image the magnetosphere in soft X-rays and UV up to 40 hours per orbit.

1 payload with a total mass of 2200 kilogrammes.
