compliments are so confusing here:
On the one hand, I love them: when a Spanish person compliments you it’s genuine and you know it!
But on the other hand, I’m conflicted; the compliments I’ve been getting (after living here 3 years) always seem to be skewed towards the fact that I’m not like my home country
Like they’re technically nice compliments I’m getting: pretty voice, cultured, not terrible to be around, but they’re about america being the floor, not me consciously choosing something (like my fashion sense, humor, or perspective on the world) yk?
It could just be me so if you’re Spanish plz lemme know if I’m onto something or not but I hope this helps/prepares any patriots
