We can funk until the dawn. "Erotic City" was the b-side of "Let's Go Crazy" and probably received as much airplay. The song is credited to Prince and the Revolution, but it's really only Prince with Sheila E.
There was, and likely still is, a lot of debate over what's really being sung in the chorus: "we can funk until the dawn" or "we can f*ck until the dawn". Radio stations would censor the line or create their own edits to work around it. Sheila E. has stated in interviews that she told Prince she would not use the f-word and instead sang "funk" but also told Prince he was free to sing whatever he wanted. I used an online AI tool to hear the vocal on its own and Sheila E. does in fact sing "we can funk until the dawn".
